Wedding venues in Tampa Bay

Most couples tour four or five venues before they find the one, and at least one of those tours turns out to be a place that was never open on their date. Start with availability and real pricing and the search gets shorter.

What couples usually ask for

  • Ceremony and reception in one place
  • Room for 100 to 200 guests with a dance floor
  • An outdoor ceremony spot with a real indoor backup
  • In-house catering or the freedom to bring a caterer
  • Getting-ready suites on site
  • Somewhere guests from out of town can reach without a long drive

How the search goes

  1. Share the shape of the day. Date or season, guest count, ceremony on site or elsewhere, and the style you keep coming back to.
  2. Get venues that are open. A short list of venues with your date available, each with the rental fee, what's included and the catering setup.
  3. Tour two or three. Walkthroughs scheduled around you, with the rain plan shown, not just described.
  4. Sign with the venue. Contract and deposit go directly to the venue. From there you work with their coordinator.

What affects the price

  • Day of the week and month. A Saturday in March and a Friday in August at the same venue can be very different numbers.
  • What the fee includes: tables, chairs, linens, a coordinator, setup and teardown, or just the room.
  • Catering model. In-house catering usually means a food and beverage minimum on top of the rental fee.
  • Guest count, because it sets the room size, the staffing and the minimum.
  • Hours of access, including setup time for your florist and band.

You get the rental price and what it includes before you put down a deposit.

Wedding season in Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay's wedding season is October through April, when humidity drops and an outdoor ceremony at 5 p.m. is pleasant instead of punishing. Those Saturdays book 12 to 18 months out at the venues everyone has heard of. May through September is hotter and wetter, but it's also when rental fees soften and a Saturday can be had on shorter notice. If you go for summer, you want a venue that has done it before: a ceremony moved indoors in ten minutes, fans and shade for cocktail hour, and a timeline built around the 4 p.m. storm.

Hurricane season runs June through November. Venues here know it and most contracts address it, but read that clause and ask what happened the last time a storm landed on a wedding weekend.

Common questions

How much does a wedding venue cost in Tampa?

Rental fees run from a few thousand dollars for a smaller or off-season space to well into five figures for a peak Saturday at a waterfront or downtown venue, before catering. You get the specific number for each venue before you tour.

Can we see venues that are open on our date only?

Yes. That's the point. Give us the date or two or three options and the short list is built from venues that have it open.

Do Tampa venues let you bring your own caterer?

Some do, some have a preferred list, and hotels and many waterfront venues require in-house catering. It's one of the first things we sort by, since it changes the budget.

What about a rain plan for an outdoor ceremony?

Every outdoor venue on your list will have a specific indoor or covered fallback, and you should see it on the tour. If a venue describes the backup instead of showing it, ask again.
